Are you one of those unfortunate PC users that is having trouble signing into Microsoft Teams due to the error code caa20002? If so, then you’ve come to the right place. In this tutorial, we’ll discuss the error causes, along with several solutions you can adopt today, to fix it.
Microsoft Teams is a multifaceted communication app, created for the sole purpose of making collaborative work within organisations (but not exclusive to them) much easier. This app comes with a wide range of capabilities, from data storage, to video conferencing, instant messaging and software integration. All its various features combine to make it the all-you-need tool.
It’s also compatible with virtually every version of Windows (7, 8, 10 & 11), making it accessible to most.
The error code caa20002 which appears when users attempt to sign-in to Microsoft Teams, oftentimes is an indication of an authentication or connection problem, either with the app itself or with Microsoft’s servers. An inability to sync is another common symptom of this error.
On this site you will find several error guides tackling known Microsoft Teams errors. Of these various errors, we find, that, in the vast majority of cases, the issue is either a sign-in or launch problem – on the Microsoft Windows platform.
This means, on some level we could attribute this error, and errors like it to some form of data corruption. But not exclusive to it. Below we’ll touch on this a little more.
What Causes Microsoft Teams Error Code caa20002?
There are a number of similarities between the Outlook error caa20002 and Microsoft Teams error caa20002. However, for this tutorial, we’ll touch solely on the error causes for the Microsoft Teams variant. For those of you on Microsoft Outlook, you may want to draw inspiration from the list below:
- Data corruption: It is possible Microsoft Teams has corrupted files within its cache folder.
- Sign-in details are compromised: If your sign-in details have been compromised, it may prevent you from logging in, to protect your account.
- User logs in from multiple devices: Error code caa20002 is known to occur when the user logs into Microsoft Teams from too many different devices (laptop, mobile, PC, etc.).
- Intermittent internet connection: If you have an unstable connection to the internet, it can prevent you from logging into some services; most notably Microsoft Teams.
Other reasons why error code caa20002 is occurring may be as a result of incorrect sign-in information, or an incorrectly configured network.
Now we have a general idea of the various common causes of this error, let’s get to the solutions.
How to Fix It
Best practices state, that it’s always best to start with the simplest solutions. In this particular instance, I’d recommend you first, considered restarting your router. This is because the error could be the result of an unstable internet connection.
If that fails to fix the error, then close Microsoft Teams, restart your PC. Then load the app up again.
If after attempting both steps outlined above, the error continues to persist, only then do I recommend you attempt the more sophisticated solutions below:

Clear Microsoft Teams Cache
The data stored in the cache folder of Microsoft Teams can become corrupted over time, which can result in a wide range of issues. Corruption is known to causes, app crashes, unstable system performance, and error code caa20002.
Thus, to rule out data corruption as a possible cause, I recommend you empty the cache folder.
To do that, follow the steps outlined in my post on fixing error code 0xcaa80000.
Reset/Repair App
Resetting or repairing an app can, in many instances fix any issues that may exist with it. In this case, resetting Microsoft Teams back to factory settings, may remove any impediments that exist, which are causing error code caa20002.

You can find step-by-step instructions on how to reset an app, from my post on fixing Mail app error 0x8007139f.
Enable TLS 1.2
TLS 1.2 is currently the most up-to-date version of TLS, however, there are instances when it may not be enabled. In those situations, older versions of TLS may be used in its stead. Unfortunately, Microsoft Teams does not support older iterations of TLS, thus, the end result may be the error code caa20002.
To get around this problem, simply enable TLS 1.2. If you don’t know how to do that, you can find the steps outline in my post on fixing error code 0x80072f8f – 0x20000.

Applications are updated (by the developer) over time to fix various issues and errors encountered on an app. In this instance, error code caa20002 could be the result of a bug within the app itself. Thus, updating it, may be the only sure-fire way of rectifying it.
To update this app, follow the steps on my post on fixing error code CAA20003 in Microsoft Teams.
Change Your Password
Another possible causes of error code caa20002 is a compromised password (or sign-in credentials). In situations like this, you can get around the problem by creating a new password.
The steps to doing that, are outlined below:
1. First, log into your system as a full administrator.
2. Next, load up your web browser and visit the Microsoft Accounts page: https://account.microsoft.com/account/
Note: Sign into it (using the same Microsoft Teams credentials).
3. This should take you to your Microsoft Account page (if it doesn’t, click on Security). From here, click on Account (in the sidebar).
4. Then click on Security, lastly, click on Change password, then follow the onscreen instructions.

This is more of a workaround than an actual solution. But if you can’t seem to get the Microsoft Teams app to work, then you can get around it, by simply using the web version of the service.
Simply visit the Microsoft Teams sign-in page: (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-teams/log-in), then click on Sign in.

If error code caa20002 continues to persist, even after attempting all the solutions above, then you may want to consider a full reinstallation of Microsoft Teams.
This method, in most instances should fix any problems with the app – but should be as a last resort, only.
The steps are quite simple. Just uninstall the app, using the InstallShield. If you don’t know how to do that, follow the steps here.
Once you’ve removed the app, restart your computer, and then download a fresh copy of Microsoft Teams from its official web page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-teams/download-app
